When deeply sensing into your own body you’ll notice there is a constant humming. These frequencies are coming from every cell, tissue, organ, and bone within your living flesh. There are also the sounds of your inner dialogue and emotions that emit an assorted range of tunes. You may notice how your energy fluctuates throughout the day, and over larger cycles of time.
Two simple ways to become more sensitized to the electrical nature of your own body.
Begin by bringing your awareness to your natural breath as it is at this moment.
Notice where inhalation and exhalation begins and stops. Is it resting in a shallow pocket or is it reaching full capacity with open belly inhalation and complete exhalation from your diaphragm? This is called diaphragmatic breathing.
PRACTICE: Relax your shoulders and expand your belly on the inhale and then contract the belly on the exhale while opening the rib cage and expanding the lungs.
Next, bring your awareness to the feeling and sound of your own heartbeat.
Notice if the rhythm is steady and consistent or irregular. Is your heart oscillatory behavior slow and muted or can you hear its thrumming pulse?
PRACTICE: Using both hands, place your index and middle finger together and feel for your pulse beginning at the crown of your head then down the hairline around your temples and face. Follow the jaw line to just below the ear and then around to the occipital bone and then the atlas of your skull. Continue finding your pulse in slow progressive hand placements until you reach the sole of the foot between the second and third toe. Place your thumbs over this point and practice diaphragmatic breathing while sensing your heartbeat in your feet.
Every breath has the potential to bring you into a grounded awareness of your heartbeat and body.
