Waning Phase: Dissolution

HOVER
contract into the fulcrum point and expand.
With the waning phase of the moon, there is a natural release process before the start of a new cycle. Working in alignment with the lunar phases brings integration of energy and deep insights as one becomes ever more awakened along the path of the solar wheel.
With this particular waning moon phase, it is especially vital to clear the deck, so to speak, and this is due to the incoming thrust of Wood Dragon energy coming in with the Chinese New Year beginning on the upcoming new moon, February 9th, 2024.
This is going to play out differently for each individual, but the theme is definitely revolutionizing.
Dragon Energy
Ambition, Brilliance, Leadership.
For me personally, I have an affinity to dragons. My husband is a fire dragon, my son is a metal dragon, and the wise protective energy of dragons has always been an ally. I find them to be not only powerful and at times challenging, but playful, kind and generous…when they are fond of you. They were prominent in my daughter’s early development as a writer and artist around 5-12 years old. She created entire worlds and species of dragons which I have carefully preserved for her to rediscover.
Wood Element
Growth, Strength, Flexibility.
The element of wood is also especially prominent in my family. My husband is a home builder and wood craftsman, my daughter’s middle name is Maderra (which means wood is Spanish), and I am very much allured by trees, druidism, and runes. There is so much to speak to when pondering the element of wood. Last year I began playing with creating bentwood trellises for plants to climb. The branches needed to be green, meaning they have a lot of water still in them, for them to bend and make a beautiful arch. Wooden furniture can be made this way, soaking the wood in water. Of course, wood can be burned to create fire energy, or it can be composted to feed a garden. Wood can be hollowed to create resonant sounding instruments with intricate carvings and inlays of precious stone. Wood has character and reflects a unique tone and expression in its grain, the rings of its life. Wood is the bones of a tree the produced flowers and fruit, its vital sap will spark a fire.
The energetic qualities of this year are really speaking to me about human potential, master craftsmanship, refinement, ingenuity and enduring flexibility to withstand to greatest storms.

In the video component to this article, I show you one way to process a release phase, inspired by the science of Neurographica Art. One of my clients recently shared a video with me about it, and I’m really enjoying this explorative process.
I feel like I’ve been working with my own style of neurographica art for my whole life, so it’s not a far reach to get into what this technique is all about. I already practice automatic writing and have taught myself how to let the less dominant hand draw freely as to communicate with my subconscious mind.
I’m not a certified neurographica art teacher yet, but I have enrolled in the Basic User Certificate course that starts this March. For now, I’m just sharing how the process connects body and conscious/subconscious mind into a coherent dialogue.
Let’s get started!
Clear space in your day to do this for yourself. Set up your environment for relaxation. You can use any meditation practice you like. Bring your attention to focus.
Pour yourself a large glass of refreshing clean water.
Grab your journal or sketchbook. If you don’t have one, consider using any material that feels right to you. A sticky note or the back page of a piece of mail will do. Remember, ritual can be simple and practical at one degree or elaborately cinematic at the other. Don’t get hung up on the how, focus more on the quality of movement and tone of intention.
Thoughts and feelings will be released onto paper using the most sensory satisfying stylus wand you can find. In other words, don’t just grab a pen or pencil, but choose your stylus relative to what is rising to release onto the page.
Will the soft sketch pencil adequately reflect the darkest shadow or electrical nature of the energy emerging? Does your stylus need a fine point the bleeds a little when you linger, or does the grain of a broad crayon more appropriately express the innocence of childhood wounds?
You see, this all has meaning.

Ground into presence
Come into a quiet still place centered within.
Notice your breath and how your body is positioned.
Just noticing how you are in the moment, what does it feel like to be in your body?
Just observe from the inside out, from the outside in.
Self-scan, from head to toe, from the left hand to the right.
Sense how your energy, your vital life force is in this moment.
What is the rhythm and quality of your energy today?
Connecting to the earth

See yourself as a tree with both feet chakras opening and connecting roots unilaterally while your root (1st) chakra and Earth Star (negative charged energy center below your feet) are activated, opened and tap rooted into the core of Earth.
Visualize this innate bioelectrical bond and feel the connectivity between your body and the Earth. Allow your brainwaves to naturally come into phase with the resonance of the Earth.
Take a few deep breaths and check in with yourself, feeling into what is rising for release.
Where are your thoughts and emotions winding into your body?
What lingering residue is sticking around, creating interference, resistance, and tension?
Is there something coming up that has been undigested from the past?
Is your thinking mind generating a feeling of overwhelm about the future?
While sensing the power of your stylus wand, imagine what it feels like to allow your body to move these thoughts and emotions without inhibition.
Feel this visceral energy of thought and emotion in your body…
…and allow it to flow out and through your stylus wand.
Words, lines, pictures, whatever.
Stylus to page, just go.
Not a hesitation as to what will happen, let go.
The initial release may be awkward, somewhat resistant to this kind of exposure.
Continue until you come to a natural sigh of relief.
Take a moment to observe your expression without judgement.
Where are the energy lines getting tangled up?
Where does the energy want to flow?
From here, create pathways to release tension in your expression.
Do this with mindful fluidity and deep breathing.
If you become frustrated, allow that to be seen in your expression and then create resolutions.
Take as much time as you need to fulfill the process to completion.
Unwind these distortions of past and future into the present moment.
Remove limitations and release resistance where necessary.
Define the core, your values and truth.
This is your temple, the remaining foundation, your legacy.
When you feel complete in this release and affirmation of core values, the expression may be dealt with in several different ways.
You may leave it in your journal, as it is.
Burn it. Burry it. Float it in a large body of water. Scatter it to the wind.
Anything is possible with your imaginative powers.
The point is…RELEASE…and feel the levity of embodiment while resting in the fulcrum point.

May you all be well and create thriving universes from the inside out.
I will be sharing more Art & Sound with you again soon!
